MISSION STATEMENT
The
Veterans Outreach Program exists to perform the following services for
veterans:
1.
To disseminate
information regarding veterans benefits programs and details of groups
or agencies that deliver those services.
2.
To provide counseling,
referral, job placement and follow-up services to veterans.
3.
To develop jobs for
veterans through coordination with area employers and manpower programs.
4.
To develop and implement
programs designed to assist other culturally and economically
disadvantaged individuals.
5.
To Develop housing alternatives for veterans and their
families.
In order to fulfill these purposes the Veterans Outreach Program will
enlist the financial support and cooperation of both private and public
institutions, including city, state, and federal government to achieve
the following goals:
A.
To identify potential veterans / clients.
B.
To provide job placement
services for veterans seeking jobs or wishing to upgrade their jobs.
C.
To mobilize and
coordinate community resources in helping the veteran. (To
include housing initiatives.)
D.
To counsel veterans entering mainstream society.
The Veterans Outreach Program identifies it's primary target population
as veterans and their family members who are unemployed or
underemployed. These clients may be experiencing other
difficulties, which are not the result and not the cause of their
unemployment status, such as family violence, substance abuse,
homelessness, or mental health problems. As a full service
agency, The Veterans Outreach Program believes that these
"consequences" must be addressed in order for the client to be
successful in obtaining and retaining e,employment.
The Veterans Outreach Program's primary focus is employment services.
Regretfully, the resources of the agency cannot be
effectively
directed toward the veteran whose unemployment or underemployment is
the consequence of other difficulties (substance abuse, family
violence, mental health problems, ect.). The Veterans
Outreach
Program makes every effort to refer the client to the appropriate
services which will remedy their problems as a prerequisite for the
successful delivery of employment or housing services.
